HIS TRANSFIGURATION ON THE SLOPE

 HIS TRANSFIGURATION ON THE SLOPE

I've got me the best excuse yet for all this snow:
She giggles through it all, slopes and shadows
On a cold blank mantle that would send old men
Screaming for a bit of sun in their withering lives.
"In sand or in snow, or meadows, too, abuelo,
I've got them covered, because I can. Just watch me."
She sloshes down with such aplomb I forgive this
frozen mayhem and wish for her to cover the length
between fear and wonder of how winter in her eyes
has brought spring and sunshine quickly into mine.
